Man dies after hot tub incident at Phoenix business

Police said the man was found unresponsive in a hot tub with exposed electrical wires.

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is conducting a death investigation after a man was found unresponsive Wednesday night inside of a hot tub

Officers were dispatched to the Life Time gym near 68th Street and Chauncey Lane and found the man in a hot tub with live electrical wires exposed. APS was contacted and electricians were able to shut off the building's electricity. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

A spokesperson for Life Time said the deceased man was a contractor performing maintenance work on equipment in the indoor aquatic area.

"The incident currently is under investigation by authorities and the cause of the fatality remains unconfirmed. Therefore, as I hope you can appreciate, no additional details are available at this time. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the family," the Life Time spokesperson said in a statement.

His death is still being actively investigated and no further details were released by police.
