PHOENIX — A Phoenix woman has been found dead in Forest Lakes, a week after she was reported missing.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office says an officer with the Arizona Game and Fish Department reported finding a suspicious vehicle off a forest road near Chevelon Butte on April 25.

The vehicle was associated with 28-year-old Brittany Fairbanks who was reported missing out of Phoenix by a friend on April 18.

A Coconino County Sheriff’s Office deputy, Forest Service firefighters, an Arizona Game and Fish Officer and the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit including search and rescue dogs, a small unmanned aerial system, and ground searchers began searching the area near the vehicle for Fairbanks.

During the search, they found foot tracks and disregarded clothing.

Around 5:30 p.m., the team located Fairbanks deceased.

The Phoenix Police Department tells 12 News there were no indications of foul play or a reported possible destination.

The investigation into the death is ongoing by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and the Coconino County Office of the Medical Examiner.
