TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe Town Lake has reopened for boating activities after a brief closure last week.

City officials said due to recent storms, and a deeper-than-usual snowpack this winter, the Salt River Project continues to increase water releases from several reservoirs in the region, causing increased debris, such as tree branches, to float downstream into Tempe Town Lake.

To be safe, the city briefly closed the lake to water recreation activities, including paddle boating, kayaking, standup paddle boarding, rowing, and sailing.

On Monday, the city said water recreation activities could resume at Tempe Town Lake and staff will continue to monitor lake flows and debris.

Anyone with questions may contact Tempe 311 at 480-350-4311.
