Wrong-way driver crashes into DPS trooper in Apache Junction, authorities say

The person driving the vehicle that hit the DPS trooper was arrested for aggravated DUI and endangerment, authorities say.

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — A car allegedly driving the wrong way in Apache Junction hit an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper late Saturday night, authorities said.

The crash occurred near US-60 and Idaho Road around 10:45 p.m. on April 6. DPS said a vehicle was traveling east on the westbound ramp, hitting the DPS unit vehicle head-on. 

The driver of the vehicle that hit the DPS trooper was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated DUI and endangerment. 

DPS said neither driver suffered any injuries from the crash.
