Traffic report for July 4 holiday weekend

Vanessa Ramirez gives you an update on what's going on around Valley roads this weekend.

PHOENIX — Good news drivers! There are no new major freeway closures taking place this Fourth of July holiday weekend. If you are venturing out of town or on the roads this holiday, Arizona Department of Transportation has some safety tips for you.

  • Don’t forget a face covering and follow social distancing guidelines.
  • Drivers also should focus on safe driving behaviors, including buckling up and obeying speed limits.
  • Check your vehicle, including tire pressure, before traveling.
  • Pack extra supplies, including drinking water, in case of stopped traffic.
  • Never drive while impaired. Arrange for a designated driver.
  • Don’t be a distracted driver. Eyes up, cellphone down.
  • Use caution in existing work zones.

Have a safe Independence Day weekend and as always, please stay alert and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones.
