Loop 101 southbound at Thunderbird reopen after multi-vehicle crash

Sky12 video showed traffic backed up for miles while crews worked to clear the scene.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The southbound lanes Loop 101 near Thunderbird Road are back open after a crash involving multiple vehicles Tuesday night, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The Department of Public Safety said five vehicles were involved in the crash and everyone involved suffered minor injuries.  

Sky12 video showed traffic backed up for miles while crews worked to clear the scene.

The northbound lanes were unaffected.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
