Woman in critical condition after being rescued from Camelback Mountain

The fire department said the woman was hiking the Echo Canyon Trial on Sunday when she became extremely overheated.

PHOENIX — A 63-year-old woman has been hospitalized in critical condition after she was rescued from Camelback Mountain on Sunday, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Firefighters said crews arrived around 1:30 p.m. and found the hiker overheated and dehydrated.

Due to her condition, paramedics decided she needed to be flown off the mountain by helicopter. She was then taken to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

An update on the woman's condition is not available.
