When officers got to the scene, they found a boy, identified as 1-year-old Legend Hayes, being treated by his family. Witnesses told officers Hayes had been run over by an SUV.

Officers treated Hayes until firefighters arrived. Hayes was later rushed to a nearby hospital, but later died.

"Detectives later learned a family member of Hayes decided to move the vehicle, after the family arrived from an errand, and collided with Hayes while on the property," police said. "The driver had previously seen Hayes inside the residence before moving the vehicle."

No arrests have been made in this case, but police said it is still under investigation.

This is a developing story; additional details will be added as they become available.
