Man drowns in Salt River, fire officials say

The man was pulled from the river after reports of a drowning near 19th Avenue and Broadway Road, the fire department said.

PHOENIX — A man has died after being pulled from the Salt River Sunday evening, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Crews responded to reports of a drowning near 19th Avenue and Broadway Road, the fire department said.

Fire officials said crews arrived and found an adult male in the river. He was unconscious and not breathing.

The man could not be resuscitated, according to the fire department.

The man's name has not been released.

The incident has been turned over to the Phoenix Police Department for investigation.
