A Phoenix man was attacked by an unkown suspect. Police offer a reward for information on the incident

A 60-year-old man died after he was struck by an unknown object carried by an unknown attacker. The suspect is still on the loose.

PHOENIX — A $2,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect connected to the death of a 60-year-old Phoenix man.

On April 16 around 11 p.m., Pelimona Rubi was on Jefferson Street near 11th Avenue when police said an unknown suspect approached him from behind and struck him in the head and face. 

According to police, Rubi was injured by an unknown object. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Rubi suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he later died, police said.

Officials said the suspect is an unknown Black man about 5'10'' tall, weighing around 210 pounds. Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, 480-948-6377, or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers.

Silent Witness

Arizona's Silent Witness program allows people to send in tips and share information about crimes happening within their local communities. 

The program shares unsolved felony case information in multiple ways, including TV, radio and social media. 

Anyone who has information on a crime or recognizes a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the program's website online or download the Silent Witness app to provide a tip. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous. 

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
