PHOENIX — A 25-year-old man was arrested by Phoenix police yesterday after he allegedly broke into a family's home, abused a minor and attacked the child's parents.

Abdullahi Aroni is facing charges of burglary and sexual conduct with a minor after he allegedly entered a 4-year-old boy's room and was confronted by his parents. The mother reported waking up on April 14 and noticing her son's bedroom door was open. When she entered, she found an unknown man in the room.

Police said the suspect first attacked the boy's mother before the father entered the bedroom and a fight ensured between the two men.

Aroni and the father eventually ended up in the backyard, where the suspect decided to jump the wall and run away.

Court records show the boy allegedly told his mother that the suspect had touched him inappropriately. The parents told police that the suspect appeared to be intoxicated.

A video recording captured the suspect standing at the side door to the family's backyard. The video was used by police to help identify Aroni as the suspect.

Police located Aroni within a few hours. Evidence recovered from the residence allegedly connected Aroni to the incident.

The suspect allegedly told police he got drunk on the day of the incident and couldn't remember fighting anyone.
