A pair of sneakers is at the center of a controversy between Nike, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, football player Colin Kaepernick and the American flag said to be designed by Betsy Ross. Nike decided not to release the shoe after Kaepernick pointed out the flag has been used by white supremacist groups. Doug Ducey weighed in by saying he would be pulling incentives for Nike that were tied to do a deal that would bring a Nike factory to Goodyear.
