Scattered showers in Valley, snow in High Country as storms move through Arizona

It was a soggy Monday for most of the Grand Canyon state.

PHOENIX — It was a cold and dreary Monday for most of Arizona as storms continued making their way across the state.

Many portions received some wet weather over the weekend, and it continued into the start of the workweek. The Valley was greeted with heavy rainfall in the early morning hours Monday as snow flurries covered portions of northern Arizona.

Throughout the morning, residents were treated to scattered showers across the Valley and snow mixed with rainfall as the day progressed.

The National Weather Service said scattered showers in the Phoenix area started to redevelop in the early afternoon and should continue for a few hours before tapering off this evening.

As for the High Country, rain and snow fell throughout the day. NWS said thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon hours.

FORECAST: What does the weather look like the rest of the week?

Early Monday afternoon, 12News received reports of a funnel cloud in the north Valley. The NWS did confirm it was a cold-air funnel.

The forecast calls for the storm system to move through Monday night and give way to clear skies through the middle of the week.
