LIVE BLOG: Main band of showers moves out of Phoenix, few showers and storms could linger

ARIZONA, USA — Today's weather is giving us a big fat reminder that we're not out of winter yet.

Isolated thunderstorms are starting to form in the Valley and our neighbors in the High Country are getting a heaping helping of snow. These conditions are expected to continue throughout the day.

Parts of the Valley are getting hail alerts and several highways in the High Country are currently closed due to crashes or winter weather.

  • SR 260 between I-17 and SR 87, mileposts 218-252
  • SR 84 east of Grand Canyon National Park, mileposts 243-268

5:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service said the main area for showers has moved north and east of Phoenix but a broken band may bring a few showers and thunderstorms to the area before 8 p.m.

1:30 p.m.: Strong winds reported in the Scottsdale and Cave Creek areas.

1 p.m.: Strong winds and hail reported in the East Valley.

12:40 p.m.: Isolated thunderstorms are developing in the Valley. NWS Phoenix expects more to form throughout the afternoon. Meanwhile ADOT has announced several highway closures in northern Arizona.
