Prescott Valley PD says there is 'no change' to right turns in the town

Police said they have received a lot of questions from the community due to a social media post.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — Prescott Valley police are setting the record straight after a viral social media post left the community confused about the red light law in the town.

Police said there is no change to the law in the town. Drivers can turn right on red unless it is "specifically" posted that turning right is prohibited at that traffic light.

Police said they have received a lot of questions from the community due to the social media post.

"An unknown person posted on social media about a 'new law' going into effect January 1, 2024, prohibiting right turns on a red light," police said in a news release. "PVPD wants to assure the community there has been no change to the law regarding right turns on a red light."

If you have a question about a traffic light you can contact police by calling 928-772-9267.
