Lake Mead goes cashless

National Park Service officials announced that cash would no longer be accepted for the entrance, lake use and campground fees. Grab a card!

ARIZONA, USA — This year, Lake Mead is going cashless.

The recreation area will only be accepting electronic card payments for all entrance, lake use and campground fees as of Jan. 1, National Park Service officials announced.

Visitors should be aware that entrance stations will continue selling passes, but will no longer take cash for payment.

This transition aligns with other National Park Service locations around the state that have already made the change to cashless entry.

If you want to book a campground in advance, you can reserve your first-come-first-serve spot online through recreation.gov.

But if you get a little hungry while you're out on the lake, don't worry. Concessions at the marinas, hotels and stores will still accept cash or card.
