PHOENIX - Phoenix police have identified 49-year-old Dinya Farmer as the victim in the fatal shooting that occurred on State Route 51 Wednesday.
Farmer was headed from westbound Interstate 10 to SR 51 when police said she called 911 and described a truck following her. The 911 operator heard shots and the call ended.
Detectives said that Farmer reported she had been followed from 7th Avenue and Broadway Road.
According to police, this increases the likelihood the crime may be related to a pre-incident altercation and is not random violence.

The incident happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. on SR-51 near Thomas Road. The highway was closed for several hours.
Officers found Farmer's car crashed into the center median. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
According to police, the Arizona Department of Public Safety received numerous 911 calls about a white truck driving aggressively westbound on the I-10. One of the 911 callers reported three Hispanic men in the truck.
Police said officers found four other vehicles were involved in minor collisions related to the shooting. Two people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The truck -- described as a white, work-style truck with ladder racks and a toolbox -- was last seen northbound on the SR 51 and it may have exited at Thomas Road, police said.
