Man dies after paramotor crash in Maricopa, authorities say

The solo pilot of the paramotor device died, authorities say.

MARICOPA, Ariz. — A person is dead following a paramotor crash in Maricopa, city officials said. 

Maricopa fire and medical as well as Maricopa police responded to reports of a "small aircraft" going down near Murphy and La Brea Road. When they got to the scene, they found a person using a paramotor device that had an "uncontrolled landing," authorities said.

The pilot of the device was identified as 45-year-old Allen Kay Sackett of Florence. Sackett reportedly died from his injuries, authorities said.

No one on the ground was injured and no structures were damaged, according to city officials. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
