2 dead after car crashes into house in Peoria

The two deceased individuals were Valley residents. Other injured individuals remain hospitalized.

PEORIA, Ariz. — Two people have died after a car they were traveling in crashed into a house early Sunday morning in Peoria, the city's police said.

Peoria police and Peoria Fire-Medical responded to a crash near Vistancia Boulevard and Lone Mountain Parkway just after midnight. The crash involved a vehicle which had hit a house, police said.

One person died at the scene and five other passengers were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The people inside the home were not injured.

One of the injured individuals later died from their injuries. The two deceased people have been identified as 20-year-old Shane Johnson of Tempe and 19-year-old Aiden Ellis of Peoria.

The other injured individuals are still in the hospital.

Preliminary information suggests a black Infiniti was traveling westbound on Garambullo Drive and continued through 126th Avenue. After failing to stop at the posted stop sign and continuing through the intersection, the Infiniti collided with a block wall and the residence, police said.

Traffic detectives are investigating and said the area will be closed for several hours.

Police did not release the identities of the people involved.
