The Budweiser Clydesdales are coming to Mesa. Here's when and where you can meet them.

The horses act as a symbol of the company's heritage and tradition.

MESA, Ariz. — The Budweiser Clydesdales have been a fan favorite for more than 80 years, and soon they'll be coming to the Valley.

The famous horses will be at the Mesa Market Place in March.

For decades, the Clydesdales have been a symbol of the beer company.

As Anheuser-Busch tells the story, the regal horse first made their appearance in April 1933.

To celebrate the repeal of the Prohibition of beer, August A. Busch, Jr. and Adolphus Busch III surprised their father, August A. Busch, Sr., with the gift of a six-horse Clydesdale hitch, or team.

The team carried the company's first case of post-Prohibition beer down the streets of St. Louis.

When the company realized how popular the horses would be, it also arranged to have a second team sent to New York for the celebration.

Thousand lined the streets to see the Clydesdales as the horses made their way to the Empire State Building.

A tour of New England and the Mid-Atlantic states followed the New York event. The tour eventually made its way to Washington D.C. and a case of beer was delivered to Pres. Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Now the horses act as a symbol of the company's heritage and tradition.

The Budweiser Clydesdales will be at Mesa Market Place on March 1. The event is free and will begin at 11 a.m.
