Mesa police investigating shooting reported near Loop 101

Police say the man reported being shot at by a group of people in a vehicle near Broadway and Dobson roads.

MESA, Ariz. — The Mesa Police Department is investigating a possible shooting reported early Monday morning near Broadway and Dobson roads. 

Officers were dispatched at about 3:45 a.m. to reports of a man who thought he had been shot in his chest. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man in his vehicle and he had actually be cut by broken glass. His injuries don't appear to be life-threatening, police said.

The man told Mesa police he was shot at by a group people in another vehicle and he returned fire with his own weapon. Police are checking the surrounding area for additional victims and the other involved vehicle has not been located.

The investigation is ongoing.
