Governor Ducey's son cited on suspicion of using fake ID at Scottsdale bar, police say

Police said the citation happened outside the Boondocks bar near Camelback and Scottsdale roads on Dec. 16. He was cited and released, police say.

Scottsdale police confirmed Governor Doug Ducey's son, 19-year-old Joe Ducey, was cited at a Scottsdale bar on suspicion of using a fake ID.

Police said the citation happened outside the Boondocks bar near Camelback and Scottsdale roads on Dec. 16. He was cited and released, police say.

12 News has requested the full police report for more details.

In a statement Thursday, the governor says his son is "going to face the same legal and family consequences as any other 19-year old in this circumstance would, and we will handle this the same way any other Arizona family would. Thank you for respecting our privacy."

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story said Ducey was "arrested." We changed that to "cited" because it better characterized his interaction with law enforcement officers.
