Glendale teen in 'grave and critical condition' after being hit by car while riding bike

The Glendale Police Department said the crash happened Thursday night near 47th and Northern avenues. A 13-year-old boy was severely injured.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A Glendale roadway is closed after a child riding a bike was hit by a vehicle, according to authorities.

The Glendale Police Department said the crash happened Thursday night near 47th and Northern avenues around 7:30 p.m. Police said a group of kids were riding bicycles in the area when a 13-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle when he was crossing the intersection.

After the incident, the vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene, authorities said. The hit-and-run vehicle has not yet been identified.

The boy was taken to the hospital and is in "grave and critical condition" as of Friday morning, police said.
