911 call reveals clues in fatal shooting on SR 51 shooting

Tuesday, Police released a transcript of the 911 call Farmer made before she was shot, and it shows the panic and confusion of the situation.

PHOENIX - "Why?" is a question to which we may never have an answer regarding the shooting death of Dinya Farmer on State Route 51 almost two weeks ago.

Monday, police released a transcript of the 911 call Farmer made before she was shot, and it shows the panic and confusion of the situation.

The last thing she said was "OK, yeah. They're right next to me," referring to three men she said were following her in a white utility truck -- one in "an army shirt," she told the 911 dispatcher.

An unidentified noise was then heard. It was possibly the gunshots, the crash, or both, which took her life the night of Sept. 7.

Major traffic was the result of that crash that quickly became a crime scene.

The transcript shows Farmer noticed the men following her all the way from 7th Avenue and Broadway.

Farmer said, at one point, the men looked "like they were getting out [of the truck] or something."

She was never able to see the truck's license plate.

Detectives don't believe the act was random, though Farmer never makes any reference of recognizing the men during the phone call.

The dispatcher tried almost 30 times to get her attention after hearing that unidentified noise.
