GILBERT, Ariz — Police say that a car crash involving four cars and 15 people in Gilbert Sunday morning was caused by a drunk driver.
Jorge Medina, 26, of Queen Creek failed to stop for a red light and hit a pickup truck carrying a family of five, which caused the truck to flip.
A 12-year-old and his mother inside the truck had minor injuries and were transported.
During that crash, those two vehicles hit a GMC Yukon carrying a family of eight on their way to church, Gilbert PD says.
Two other cars were also struck.
Everyone was wearing their seatbelts, Gilbert PD said, and the only seriously injured person was Medina.
He faces a DUI charge and 13 counts of endangerment, police said.
The 4-vehicle crash happened near Higley & Williams Field roads in Gilbert.
