Hurricane Rosa still headed for Arizona, to bring heavy rain as it weakens

Seemingly, no part of the state will be left out.

Prepare for heavy rain across the state. Arizona could be drenched next week.

The National Weather Service says remnants of Hurricane Rosa are expected to hit the state Sunday, bringing heavy rain, high winds and the threat of localized flooding.

Flash flood watches are in effect for much of Arizona from Monday morning through late Tuesday night.

Up to 4 inches (10 centimeters) could fall in some areas through Wednesday. Those include Flagstaff, Payson, Prescott and the Grand Canyon's South Rim. Up to 6 inches (15 centimeters) is forecast at the canyon's North Rim.

Forecasters say metro Phoenix, Yuma, and eastern and western Arizona could see widespread rain up to a couple of inches.

Normally dry washes could become flooded, as well as low-lying roadways. Remember, turn around, don't drown.

The Flash Flood Watches include the following areas in Arizona:

Central Arizona

Aguila Valley, Apache Junction/Gold Canyon, Buckeye/Avondale, Cave Creek/New River, Central La Paz, Central Phoenix, Deer Valley, Dripping Springs, East Valley, Fountain Hills/East Mesa, Gila Bend, Gila River Valley, Globe/Miami, Kofa, Mazatzal Mountains, New River Mesa, North

Phoenix/Glendale, Northwest Pinal County, Northwest Valley, Parker Valley, Pinal/Superstition Mountains, Rio Verde/Salt River, San Carlos, Scottsdale/Paradise Valley, Sonoran Desert

Natl Monument, South Mountain/Ahwatukee, Southeast Gila County, Southeast Valley/Queen Creek, Southeast Yuma County, Superior, Tonopah Desert, Tonto Basin, West Pinal County, and Yuma.

Northern Arizona

Yavapai County, northern Gila County, the western two thirds of Coconino County. This includes Prescott, Flagstaff, Payson, Grand Canyon, Supai, Page, Sedona.Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Northwest Deserts, and Northwest Plateau.

Southern Arizona

South Central Pinal County, Southeast Pinal County, Tohono O`Odham Nation, and Western Pima County.
