A jury has found John Allen guilty of first-degree murder in the 2011 killing of 10-year-old Ame Deal.

Allen's wife, Sammantha Allen, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the case. She was sentenced to death in August after a jury found her guilty in June.

Deal died after being placed in a plastic box and left in there by John and Sammantha, her cousin, in the Arizona summer.

The jury also found John Allen guilty on three counts of child abuse and conspiracy to commit child abuse.

His next court date is Thursday at 10:30 a.m., beginning the aggravation phase, which could lead to determination on the death penalty.
