Indiana Supreme Court denies Richard Allen request in Delphi murders case

The justices said a recent ruling from Judge Frances Gull resolved most of the issues raised by defendant Richard Allen.

INDIANAPOLIS — The state's high court weighed in for the first time in the Delphi murders case Monday.

The Indiana Supreme Court denied a request from Richard Allen, who is accused of killing Abby Williams and Libby German in Delphi, Indiana, in February 2017.

He wanted the court to order the judge to make certain documents public and to follow state rules about sealing court records.

The justices said a recent ruling from Judge Frances Gull resolved most of the issues Allen raised, but also clarified the process for sealing court records.

The Indiana Supreme Court will hear oral arguments next month on key questions in the Delphi case. They announced Monday the court will consider whether to reinstate the original defense team to represent Allen and whether Gull should be removed from the criminal case.
