FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — If you were in Flagstaff Wednesday, you may have noticed some pretty interesting clouds.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff shared photos of the clouds on X. The clouds look like they are falling to the ground in wisps.

Which is true, in a sense. The interesting view was caused by precipitation falling but evaporating as it hit dry air before hitting the ground, the NWS said. When this happens, virga clouds form.

Other users on X also shared photos of the formation.

If you see any interesting cloud or any other weather related scenes, send them to us through the "near me" function in the 12News app.
