PEORIA, Ariz. — Two people have been taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a multi-vehicle collision in Peoria, officials said.
The crash was reported Monday afternoon near 103rd and Northern avenues. At least two subjects have been transported to the hospital, according to the Peoria Police Department.

The section of Northern Avenue running between 99rd and 103rd avenues will be closed in both directions for several hours as police investigate the collision, police said.
It is unknown at this time what caused the crash.

One of the largest park systems in the nation is also located in Maricopa County. The county has an estimated 120,000 acres of open space parks that includes hundreds of miles of trails, nature centers and campgrounds.
The county’s seat is located in Phoenix, which is also the state capital and the census-designated 5th most populous city in the United States.
The county was named after the Maricopa, or Piipaash, Native American Tribe.
