RIO DE JANEIRO - In the middle of Olympic Park madness, the Wear family had one clear destination: Olympic Aquatics Stadium, to watch their friend and neighbor Michael Phelps go after even more gold.

"I'm on the USA Swimming board and support all of our swimmers, so here we are," said Bart Wear. "We are here watching Michael bringing home the gold tonight."

It turns out the Wear's are neighbors to Michael, his fiancée Nicole and their baby boy Boomer in Paradise Valley.

Not even the concerns over Zika or security could keep them away.

"If you live scared, you're not going to live your life how you want to," said Bart's daughter, Alexa. "Something bad could happen to you anywhere."

This isn't Bart's first time watching live on the world stage.

"This is my fourth Olympics," he said. "We've been all over the world and the kids wanted to come and so I brought them to South America."

So here they are -- the whole family in Rio, enjoying the Olympics and watching their neighbor and friend make even more history than he has in his in his illustrious career in the pool.
