Gilbert native Alex Naddour wins bronze in pommel horse final

RIO DE JANEIRO - Alex Naddour of Gilbert claimed the first medal of the Rio Olympics for the U.S. men's gymnastic team, taking bronze in the pommel horse.

Naddour finished behind Brits Max Whitlock and Louis Smith, who grabbed gold and silver.

Naddour was in the lead after his routine, scoring a 15.700, but he was passed up first by Smith, who scored 15.833 and finally by Whitlock, who posted a score of 15.966.
