Arizona Cardinals safety Baker named to 2024 Pro Bowl

Budda Baker has missed five games this season due to a hamstring injury but still ranks second on the team with 77 tackles.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker was selected to the NFL's 2024 Pro Bowl, earning a starting spot on the NFC roster.

According to Cardinals PR, Baker is the third player in franchise history to receive at least six Pro Bowl nods in his first seven NFL seasons, joining Patrick Peterson (7) and Ollie Matson (6).

The 27-year-old missed five games this season due to a hamstring injury but still ranks second on the team with 77 tackles, which also marks six straight seasons with at least 75 tackles.

PERRY ALUM SELECTED TO FIRST PRO BOWL

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is one of nine players from San Francisco's roster to be named to the NFC roster.

Purdy, a 2018 graduate of Perry High School, led the 49ers (13-3) to the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and has thrown for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns in his second year in the NFL.

HUMPHRIES TO INJURED RESERVE

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon announced Wednesday that starting left tackle D.J. Humphries will miss the season finale due to a torn ACL.

Kelvin Beachum -- a 12-year NFL veteran -- will get the start in place of Humphries against the Seahawks. Kickoff Sunday is set for 2:25 p.m.

The Cardinals have made State Farm Stadium in Glendale their home turf and the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix is home to both the Suns and the Mercury. The Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers play at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale. The Coyotes play at Mullett Arena on ASU's Tempe campus. 

Phoenix also has a soccer team with the USL's Phoenix Rising FC, who play at Phoenix Rising FC Stadium in Phoenix. 

The Valley hosts multiple major sporting events on a yearly basis, including college football's Fiesta Bowl and Guaranteed Rate Bowl; the PGA Tour’s highest-attended event, the WM Phoenix Open; NASCAR events each spring and fall, including Championship Weekend in November; and Cactus League Spring Training for 15 Major League Baseball franchises.
