Who is interim Suns coach Earl Watson?

For the second time in three years, the Phoenix Suns have an interim head coach. His name is Earl Watson.

For the second time in three years, the Phoenix Suns have an interim head coach. His name is Earl Watson.

Watson, 36, only has two years of coaching experience under his belt. He was hired as an assistant coach under Jeff Hornacek in June.

Watson began his coaching career last season with the San Antonio Spurs D-League team in Austin.

Before becoming a coach, Watson spent 13 years in the league with six different franchises. He played for the Seattle SuperSonics, Memphis Grizzles, Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Suns fired Jeff Hornacek late Sunday night.

The team has lost 19 of the last 21 games. 

Watson will make his head-coaching debut Tuesday when the Suns (14-25) host the Toronto Raptors.
