Phoenix designer gains popularity after creations with NBA dance teams

She was set to go to school when COVID hit, so she had to turn to Plan B, but quickly needed a Plan C. The plan was to become a fashion designer.

PHOENIX — An Arizona woman is now living her designer dreams, seeing her creations on dance teams in NBA arenas around the country.

It all happened because she pivoted and bet on herself, and the Phoenix Suns helped launch her new career. Valley designer Brooke Lynn is on her second act.

"Get creative and step out of your comfort zone," she said after her life was turned upside down by the pandemic, like so many others.

Lynn has a degree in criminal justice from ASU and said she was accepted to law school. She was set to go to school when COVID hit, so she had to turn to Plan B, but quickly needed a Plan C.

"I was serving at two different restaurants," she explained. "They got shut down. I was then on unemployment."

She decided to turn her passion for design into her new plan. Lynn learned the basics from her family but added her own twist. She said she was always into fashion, so she decided to take those techniques and elevate them during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was one dress in particular that caught the attention of millions of people on social media. She uploaded a video of herself wearing her design, a take on the Suns jersey, and the video went viral. She sold thousands of designs online.

She often would set herself up outside of the Footprint Center in Phoenix to sell her clothes. One day, it caught the eye of a player’s manager. He used it in a fashion show. That’s how she was introduced to the Suns' in-game host. She started designing for her, then the Suns dancers. Things haven’t slowed down since then.

"I've designed for Devin Booker's dad. I've designed for Sydel Curry Lee, which is Stephan Curry's sister," she added. “The Diamondbacks host, as well as some of the players' families, the Cardinals host."

She’s now worked with seven more NBA dance teams, and even on the NFL field with the Raiderettes. There are no signs she’s slowing down but if she does, she now has a new Plan B.

"I never attended law school, but that may be in the future as well," Lynn hinted.

She hopes to continue expanding to more NBA teams and move into other professional sports as well.
