Diamondbacks make roster change, release starting lineup ahead of Game 1 of the World Series

The D-backs are looking to beat the Rangers on their own turf as Game 1 of the World Series gets underway in Arlington at 5:03 p.m.

PHOENIX — The Diamondbacks have made a change in their roster for the World Series.

Jace Peterson is in for an extra bat against the Rangers and pitcher Slade Cecconi was dropped from the roster:

Catchers (2): Gabriel Moreno and Jose Herrera

Infielders (8): Christian Walker, Ketel Marte, Geraldo Perdomo, Emmanuel Rivera, Jordan Lawlar, Evan Longoria, Pavin Smith, Jace Peterson

Outfielders (4): Corbin Carroll, Alek Thomas, Tommy Pham and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Pitchers (12): Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Brandon Pfaadt, Ryne Nelson, Paul Sewald, Kevin Ginkel, Andrew Saalfrank, Ryan Thompson, Kyle Nelson, Miguel Castro, Joe Mantiply and Luis Frías

The Rangers have the same roster from their ALCS appearance.

The D-backs also released their starting lineup for Game 1 of the World Series. Zac Gallen will take the mound for the 5:03 p.m. start time.

Gallen won’t be a surprise to Texas. They faced him both times that the teams played against each other this season. In Arlington back in May, the Rangers tagged Gallen for three runs on seven hits in five innings in the Rangers’ only win against Arizona this season.

When Texas traveled to Chase Field back in August, Gallen was much more the ace that the Diamondbacks had come to expect, holding the Rangers (who were struggling mightily at the time) to one run on seven hits over six frames, while also striking out 11.

The D-backs will be in their red alternate gear.
