Corbin Carroll named finalist for NL Rookie of the Year

If Carroll wins the award, he would be the first Rookie of the Year in the history of the Diamondbacks franchise

PHOENIX — Arizona Diamondbacks rookie outfielder Corbin Carroll has already had a season to remember after leading the team to their first playoff appearance in six years and first World Series appearance in 22 years.

And now, Carroll will be looking to add another accomplishment after being named a finalist for the National League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year award.

Carroll is up for the award with the Los Angeles Dodgers' James Outman and the New York Mets' Kodai Senga.

Carroll had an incredible season for the D-backs as he hit .285 with 30 doubles, 10 triples, 25 home runs and 76 RBI. He also stole 54 bases. He was named an All-Star starter and got to play the game in his hometown of Seattle.

Carroll reflected on his rookie season on Sunday while attending the NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway, where he waved the green flag.

"I think overall, it’s just that it was an incredibly positive year," Carroll said. "So many great moments where I feel like we were able to exceed even our own expectations as a team, our staff’s expectations, our players’ expectations. I think a year like that, if you can’t enjoy it, there’s no year that you are going to enjoy. So, that’s all I’ve tried to do over this last, even this last month, over this playoff run, is just soak it all in and then not take it for granted because I don’t know when I’m going to get back here."

The winner will be announced at 4 p.m. on November 13.  Carroll would be the first D-back to win Rookie of the Year.

The D-backs' first Spring Training game will be on March 23, 2024, against the Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale.
