PHOENIX - You won't find too many people who enjoy playing golf more than Amy Bockerstette.
"She has a lot of fun. She has a great sense of humor," said her mom Jenny.
The Sandra Day O'Connor High School junior will compete at the LPGA Founders Cup Pro-Am on March 15 at the JW Marriott Wildfire Golf Club as part of their partnership with the Special Olympics Arizona.
Bockerstette was born with Down Syndrome, but that’s never stopped here for accomplishing her dreams.
Her parents have always encouraged Bockerstette to try new things and find her passion.
When Bockerstette showed an interest in sports, her dad contacted a local golf coach.
"They wanted me to look at her golf swing, which I did," said coach Matt Acuff. "All that was about was having her have some fun."
The fun quickly turned into a passion.
To compete at the high school level, Bockerstette had to build her endurance and strength, which she's done, even competing in the Phoenix heat in the summer.
Her goal was to compete in one tournament during her high school career.
This fall, Bockerstette played in nine, including the state tournament.
Bockerstette has changed her coaches, her teammates and her parents -- and she'll change the way you see golf.
