ICYMI (sorry, we should clarify, that’s code for “in case you missed it”), we published a story earlier this week about texting codes teenagers may be using. Since we shared the story on Facebook, we’ve gotten a lot of responses from teens, adults too, admitting to using some or never seeing those codes before.
The Facebook post, which has now been shared more than 200,000 times, inspired some people to create texting codes of their own in the comments thread. While we don’t condone the use of “KYS” (a code for “kill yourself”) or “GNOC” (which stands for “get naked on camera”), we can say we wish these slightly more innocent codes existed. Pretty sure we'd use these more often than any of the "real" ones.
Below are some hilarious texting codes generated by Facebook users.
IHCWMFTL = I'm hungry, can we meet for tacos later? - Maria Carmela
WTGEBBQ = Want to go eat barbecue?- Anthony Aguilera
MMATSH = Meet me at the sock hop.- Ivan R Salinas
MMATLPAWWGCSMJDTYPOTWBM = Meet me at the local Publix and we will go create some mischief, just don't tell your parents or they will be mad. -Jay Hough
ICGFABRN = I could go for a burger right now. - Oscar Guardado
BMLRMF = Bring me lemonade and rub my feet. - Matt Tervo
WTTP = Want to trade pizza? - Anthony Durbin
Trust us, we are well aware that some of the “sneaky” codes from the original story are over the top. But a data analysis by Bark, a safety app that helps parents monitor their children’s media use, found the codes by combing through 10 million teen messages on 21 different platforms.
