President's DACA deal met with criticism from Phoenix dreamers

The White House revealed details about the president's plan on Thursday.

PHOENIX - President Donald Trump's newly announced immigration deal was met with criticism by undocumented immigrants, also known as "Dreamers", who said the plan would only help certain people and leave out their parents, who they said are the original dreamers.

"It's like having to decide, 'You want to live your dream by yourself?' and it's like, no, this is my parents' dream. This is what I'm fighting for," said Veronica Benitez.

The White House revealed details about the president's plan on Thursday, which promises a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children.

The deal would end the practice of family reunification, which allows citizens to petition the government to allow close family members to immigrate into the country.

The diversity visa lottery program would also end and a $25 billion trust fund would be established specifically for a border wall.

The White House is sending an outline of the deal to the U.S. Senate and is asking for a vote within the next two weeks.
