CROWN KING, Ariz. — A small fire near Towers Mountain is no longer threatening homes or communication towers near Crown King, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. As of 10 a.m. on May 11, the fire is 100% contained.
Earlier Thursday evening, residents of Crown King were placed on SET, or a pre-evacuation status.
The fire, named the Towers Fire, was about two miles north of Crown King and five to ten acres. Firefighters were able to box it in with fire retardant, officials said.
"Resources have stopped forward rate of spread on the #TowersFire. Crews will continue securing line this evening and again tomorrow," Prescott National Forest said Thursday night.
