Suspect arrested for Halloween shooting that killed young woman in Phoenix

Phoenix police have arrested a suspect for the shooting reported Tuesday, Oct. 31, in a neighborhood near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road.

PHOENIX — A suspect has been arrested after a young woman sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound on Oct. 31 in the West Valley.

Officers were dispatched to a neighborhood near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road at about 12:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting at a residence with multiple occupants inside.

After evacuating the occupants, officers located a young woman who had been shot. She was transported to the hospital and has since passed away. The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Alyssa Candelaria Gomez.

Phoenix police announced this week they have arrested 19-year-old Chamille Tapia Hernandez for allegedly being involved in the deadly shooting. Hernandez was booked into jail on Nov. 9 for a pending charge of murder, police said.

Silent Witness:

Arizona's Silent Witness program allows people to send in tips and share information about crimes happening within their local communities.

The program shares unsolved felony case information in multiple ways, including TV, radio and social media.

Anyone who has information on a crime or recognizes a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the program's website online or download the Silent Witness app to provide a tip. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
