Haley Ercanbrack was prepared to climb the world's highest peak when the Nepal earthquake triggered deadly avalanches at Mt Everest.
Haley Ercanbrack and her father prepare to climb Mt Everest.

According to the mountaineering company guiding her Mt Everest Climb, Haley Ercanbrack of Scottsdale is now at Camp 1 awaiting a helicopter evacuation.

Avalanches triggered by an earthquake in Nepal Saturday killed at least 17 climbers on their way to the world's highest peak.

Ercanbrack is an adventurous woman we first introduced you to in early April as she prepared for her journey. Through the years she has bonded with her father through their love of extreme mountaineering.

According to dispatches from the mountaineering company, Haley's father is further down the mountain at Gorak Shep.

The Today Show interviewed the man leading her expedition who said his climbing team was between Camp 1 and Camp 2 at the time of the deadly avalanche and that debris rained down in the valley around them but his team was only dusted by snow.

The team has reported the death of its Base Camp doctor.

Another climber listed in Haley's party is Alan Arnette who is known to climb to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's research. Arnette filed an audio dispatch saying that Camp 1 looked as though a tornado tore through.
