SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Four officers sustained minor injuries after an incident at a shooting range earlier this month, the Scottsdale Police Department said.

The incident occurred on April 3 around 11 a.m. at the Salt River Police Firearms Range.

Following main training drills, several officers unloaded their weapons to prepare them for cleaning. As they were cleaning, an accidental discharge of a pistol occurred that went into the ground, Scottsdale PD said.

The bullet hit the ground and sent debris and fragments toward officers, officials added. Four officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

All injured officers were treated and released from the hospital that same day, according to Scottsdale police.
