Son finds mother, father shot dead in Phoenix home

They were known for a big Christmas lights display, but this year, the lights never went up.

PHOENIX - A man found his own parents dead and with gunshot wounds inside their own home Monday morning.

Phoenix police are still investigating what may have led to their deaths, including the possibility of a murder-suicide, but neighbors are saying Ronald and Anna Stafford, who were found near State Route 51 and Glendale Avenue, were good people.

“We went out to dinner occasionally,” said Paul Burgess, who lives across the street from the Straffords.

He and his wife formed a close friendship with Ronald, 77, and Anna, 76, over the last two decades.

The Straffords were also known for their big Christmas lights display they would put up every year.
“It was massive! The whole front yard was covered in lights,” said Burgess.

Except this year -- the lights never turned on, which is what seemed strange to Burgess.

Police were on scene for several hours investigating.
