Phoenix neighborhood celebrates 4th of July with 41st annual parade

Hundreds come together with decorated bikes, wagons and even decorated dogs to take part in the parade around Royal Palm Park.

PHOENIX -- For 41 years, the Royal Palm Neighborhood has been gathering together to celebrate our independence.

“It's a tradition that's so important to this community," said Shannon McBride of the 19th North neighborhood alliance. "We are all gathered along with businesses that have sponsored the event and we are giving away good things like cookies and watermelon and iced coffee. Then we go on a parade together. It's quaint and wonderful."

It’s a small town community celebration that welcomes everyone with open arms and fills the park with so much pride for the country.

"Today it's about America, family, friends and our freedom. There's no better place to be for the Fourth of July," said Carpenters Local Union 1912 member Dean Lott.

The kids have a blast with balloons, water games, painting, a hands-on carpentry station, sweet treats and more.

Hundreds come together with decorated bikes, wagons and even decorated dogs to take part in the parade around Royal Palm Park, located at 15th Avenue and Butler Drive.

It's family fun with four decades of celebrating our nation's independence.
