Two people have been displaced after their Phoenix home caught fire while they were burning weeds Wednesday morning, Phoenix fire officials said.
The homeowner was trying to clear away weeds from hard-to-reach areas when smoke started coming from the attic near 19th and Peoria avenues, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Fire investigators believe that embers from the burned weeds ended up in the attic, sparking the fire.
Phoenix FD said nobody was injured in the fire, but the department stressed that burning weeds and other vegetation is not a good idea, especially on dry, hot and breezy days.
