PEORIA, Ariz. — The City of Peoria has a new police chief.
After an extensive search, City Manager Henry Darwin selected Thomas Intrieri as the city's new police chief. The Peoria City Council confirmed the selection Tuesday during their regular meeting.
Intrieri previously served the Mesa Police Department for 28 years. His most recent role is as the Red Mountain Division Commander.
“Public Safety is extremely important to our residents, and our City Council, I am very pleased that we will continue to keep Peoria a safe community and innovate in the area of policing under the watch of Thom Intrieri,” said Peoria Mayor Jason Beck.
Darwin also had good things to say about the new chief.
“Thom has the vision, experience and passion to serve our exceptional men and women of the Peoria Police Department very well as Chief,” he said.
Intrieri said he is ready to get started.
“I am honored to join the city of Peoria Police Department as chief,” said Intrieri. “Peoria is a wonderful community, with an incredible team of police officers doing an exceptional job of engaging with residents and maintaining a safe community. I can’t wait to join them.”
Intrieri replaces Peoria Police Chief Art Miller, who announced his plans to retire earlier this year.
