12 News meteorologist Lindsay Riley says lightning and light rain will continue through 6:30 p.m., then showers will become more widespread through the overnight hours. We could see thunderstorms across the state Saturday afternoon. This threat should diminish around sunset Saturday.

Radar shows an "L" shape of moisture moving north into Arizona From Mexico. Storms may pop up across the southern half of Arizona and in the Phoenix area all evening.

The chance for rain will increase through the day, mostly for Maricopa County and east from there, according to the National Weather Service in Phoenix.

Friday morning Team 12's Jimmy Q said the models are bringing the heaviest rain further east into New Mexico.

Around lunchtime Friday, light showers were passing near Tucson.
