ANAHEIM, Calif — New changes to the way guests enter the happiest place on earth are being tested at the Disneyland Resort.

A new entry gate began testing at the Disney California Aventure Park on Monday, Disneyland officials confirmed to CBS 8.

Disneyland officials said the test model of the new entry gate will support the construction expected at the Disneyland Resort and Downtown Disney set to begin this year.

The new entry gate will open automatically after a guest scans their ticket and takes a photo. Guests will also be able to scan their Magic Band using a touch point to enter the theme parks.

The entry gate test model is part of the Disneyland Resort’s plan to continue investing in the guest experience, which will include updating and enhancing entry gates at the theme park entrances, hotels, monorail and Downtown Disney District starting later this year.

The updated entry gates were manufactured by the same company that produced entry gates at Disneyland Paris.

After the initial test period, the entry gate test model will be removed for official construction and installation.

Disneyland officials said the project will be completed in a phased approach to minimize guest impact and is expected to be completed in 2025.
